FAQ — frequently asked questions
HomeA quick rundown of the most important rules of the service — who we accept, why we sometimes reject an entry, how comment moderation works. If you can't find the answer, write via the contact form.
Standard listings — yes, 100% free. We run the whole service as a hobby — we travel Europe by camper ourselves and we see how much the community needs a place to share trusted spots.
We don't charge for adding a POI (campsite, service station, tourist attraction, "wild" spot) or for adding an event. All standard listings are equal — there are no "better" positions and no artificial ranking boost.
Exception — "sponsored place". For entities wishing to highlight their location (e.g. company, restaurant, shop, camper service) we offer a paid promotional service — the marker is always visible on the map with its own icon, description, gallery and click statistics. Details in the regulations (§3.1a) and the question "How to add a sponsored place?" below.
Every new entry goes through moderation — it's not automated. Someone from our team reviews each entry, checks whether it makes sense and approves or rejects it. We reject in a few specific cases:
- Wrong category. If you add a "wild" spot but mark it as a "campsite" (with electricity, showers, reception) — or vice versa — the listing gets rejected. Each category has its features and mixing them confuses other campers. Just fix the POI type and resubmit.
- No contact details. We require at least one of: phone, e-mail, website. Without contact other users can't book a spot, ask about prices or learn whether the place is still open.
- Low data quality. Empty description, a single generic sentence, no photos or logo, incorrect coordinates — such entries do more harm than good. They get rejected with a suggestion to expand.
- Not our topic. We don't collect data about regular city parking or classic petrol stations. We only add fuel stations if they offer camper service (dump, water, electricity). Parking only if explicitly for overnight camper stays. If a listing doesn't concern a camper, we'll politely remove it from the database.
The list above is guidance on what usually gets rejected — so you know what to pay attention to. We don't send individual explanations for each rejection — moderation is run as a hobby and we don't have capacity for per-entry correspondence. If the entry meets all the conditions, we usually accept it within 24h.
Yes — and we warmly encourage it. Your impressions from places help other travelers plan their routes. We do have a few simple rules:
- No profanity, insults or name-calling — neither toward facility owners nor toward other users.
- Criticism is welcome, but constructive — describe what went wrong, don't insult. "Dirty showers, rude reception" helps; "total garbage and a bunch of fools" doesn't help anyone and will be removed.
- Comments that don't meet these rules are removed without warning. For deliberate attempts to disrupt the service (spam, bots, attack attempts) we permanently block the account.
We accept constructive feedback — including criticism of us. If something doesn't work, write to us directly via the contact form, not in a comment under a random POI.
Your review has been saved — nothing was lost. We show a place's or event's rating and reviews publicly only once a representative sample has been collected: at least 5 reviews, or once a year has passed since the first review. The reason: one or two reviews can be biased and would weigh too heavily on the whole object's rating.
Until then we show empty stars and a „not enough data” note. Your review becomes visible once the object passes that threshold — so we encourage you to add reviews: the more there are, the sooner the rating becomes reliable.
The service works best and smoothest in modern browsers. What we regularly test:
- Google Chrome 148+ (current stable as of May 2026) — preferred browser, everything works natively.
- Mozilla Firefox 150+ (current stable as of May 2026) — full compatibility, including Leaflet maps and the admin panel.
- Apple Safari on iOS and macOS — works, including native link sharing via the "Share sheet". We test on the latest iOS / macOS versions.
We do not guarantee operation on older browser versions — we use modern JavaScript and Web API features (Service Workers, Cache API, async/await, fetch streaming, high-accuracy Geolocation). In old versions the map may fail to load, forms may misbehave, and login may refuse to cooperate.
Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge Legacy are not supported — if you use Edge, make sure it's the new Edge (Chromium-based, auto-updated by Windows).
Yes — both on Android (Chrome, Firefox) and on iOS (Safari, Chrome). The entire interface is responsive — maps, forms, photo galleries and the events list adapt to smaller screens.
If you need to quickly check the nearest camper service on the road — just open the station map on your phone and click "show my location" (you need to grant geolocation permission).
Yes! We provide RSS feeds — the latest content from the service goes straight to your reader, without visiting the site.
The easiest way: copy our homepage address and paste it into your RSS reader as a new feed. The reader will automatically detect all our channels — events (split by category), the blog, and the most popular and recently added places. The latest information is always with you — just open the app.
Recommended reader: we really like the Reeder app — it's clear and pleasant to use. Don't have an RSS reader yet? Get one from your device's store:
We treat your vehicle's location as sensitive data — and protect it accordingly. We are an organisation with experience in the medical sector, where data protection and accuracy are an absolute priority — we bring the same standards to vehicle tracking.
How it works (in short). When you enable private mode, a pair of cryptographic keys is created in your browser. You secure the private key with your own password. Every batch of GPS data from the tracker is encrypted before it reaches our server — the database holds only encrypted „noise”, unreadable without your key.
Zero-knowledge — we don't know your password. This is the principle we care about most: the password to your private key is never sent to the server and never stored anywhere. It exists only in your memory and in your browser for the duration of the session. As a result, even we — the site administrators — cannot read your routes.
Honest about security. No website can guarantee 100% that it will never fall victim to a hacker attack — and we don't promise that either. The difference is what an attacker could obtain: in our case only encrypted data, without the key and without the password. Without your password it remains useless.
The other side of the coin. Since we don't know the password — we cannot recover it. If you lose it, the data encrypted with that key is gone. That's why, when you create the key, we provide a backup file — keep it in a safe place (password manager, USB stick).
Which trackers we support. We work with Teltonika GPS trackers (Codec8, Codec8E, Codec16 protocols) — proven, professional equipment for vehicle tracking.
Want to connect a tracker? Write to us via the contact form — we'll help you choose a device and guide you through the configuration step by step.
After turning on the lock mode we send an HTTP webhook to your address on every important vehicle event. You decide what to do with it on your side — send yourself an e-mail, an SMS through a gateway, a phone push, a Slack message, trigger a siren. Success = an HTTP 200 response; after a failed shot we retry 3 times at 10-second intervals.
The webhook fires on events distinguished by the EVENT field: ON — you turned on the lock mode, LOCKED — the system armed itself and the position is locked, ALARM — the vehicle left the configured circle, OFF — you turned off the lock mode.
In the webhook body you can substitute variables: {{EVENT}}, {{GEO}}, {{LAT}}, {{LNG}}, {{SATELLITES}}, {{ALTITUDE}}, {{SPEED}}, {{IMEI}}, {{NAME}}, {{EMAIL}}. Names are case-sensitive — type them in upper case.
You configure the webhook on the device card at /dashboard/tracking/show-devices → action menu → Webhook configuration. Without a configured webhook the mode will not turn on.
Sometimes a campsite / station / attraction is added by someone else (a traveler who was there) before you, the owner, create an account. You can take over management — this requires a short verification on our side to make sure you really represent the owner. Steps:
- Create an account on keepDriving!eu (if you don't have one yet).
- Open the place on the map and click the white flag next to the POI. This signals to our moderation what you are reporting.
- Then write to us via the form: send your user ID (visible in the menu after login, below your name, above the "Log out" button) and explain that you are the right person to manage this place.
- We'll check the request (usually 1–3 days) and if everything matches, we'll assign you owner permissions. Then you'll be able to edit the description, photos, logo, opening dates, contact.
What speeds up verification: a link to the place's website with your e-mail in the footer / contact, a scan of a document with the company name matching the POI, or a message from the official e-mail address visible on Google / invoices. Without this info we usually request additional details.
Two important topics in one place — copyright in logos and our responsibility for content.
Logos and trademarks. All logos visible on the POI card, in the event header or on the social-media share card belong to their owners (campsite operators, event organizers, manufacturers). We display them for informational purposes — so the user sees what the POI / event is about and can recognize the place on the map or in a shared link card. We don't claim any rights to them, we don't use them commercially, and we don't sell advertising space with these marks. If you own a trademark and want us to remove it or change the way it's presented — write to us via the form.
Limited responsibility for data. The service is purely informational and community-driven. The vast majority of data (addresses, opening times, prices, descriptions, event dates, organizer contact) is entered by users themselves — travelers who visited the place, and facility owners. We moderate what we can (category, contact, basic quality) but we don't individually verify every opening hour or event date — that's physically not feasible for a hobby-run service.
In practice: we are not responsible for:
- the quality of services provided by campsites, service stations, event organizers or other operators of facilities listed in the service — they are independent entities we have no influence over,
- outdated opening hours, prices or seasons (a campsite may have changed prices between updates),
- postponed or cancelled event dates (the organizer didn't report the change; we try to mark "date_changed" / "cancelled" statuses when we have info),
- permanently closed facilities shown as active (report them to us with the "white flag" — we'll withdraw them),
- travel decisions made solely on the basis of content from the service — including stay costs, reserved but unavailable spots, changed infrastructure,
- damages, financial losses, inconveniences or lost benefits resulting from reliance on data from the service — both when planning the trip and during it.
Reviews and comments. All reviews, comments and ratings in the service express solely the individual views of their authors and do not constitute the position of keepDriving!eu or our recommendation. These contents are subjective — the same place can get 5 stars from one traveler and 2 from another, depending on expectations, season, weather and a thousand other factors. We don't verify the truthfulness of experiences described in reviews; we only moderate form (no profanity, insults, spam). We are not responsible for any damages resulting from reliance on reviews, nor for actions of facility owners in reaction to those reviews.
Trip planning remains on your side. Before arriving at a new place — especially on a route far from home — we recommend calling / writing directly to the facility and confirming that: the facility is still operating, has a free spot, prices are current, and the event takes place on the planned date. Contact numbers and websites are in every POI card precisely for this purpose.
Each POI has a set of icons describing its equipment. The full English name appears under the icon (hover with the cursor / tap on a phone).
The "no icon" rule — very important: if you do not see an icon next to a POI, it does NOT automatically mean a prohibition/absence. It can mean two things: (a) the feature is not there, (b) the owner/editor has not yet marked this information (unknown). For things critical to your stay (e.g. pets, electricity, payment) — ask before you arrive.
The radius rule:
- For a campsite and service station — an icon means equipment on the premises.
- For Natura Viva (¹) — an icon means a facility within a radius of up to 200 m from the spot (a public toilet / chemical toilet nearby, a shop in the vicinity, etc.).
- For a tourist attraction (²) — an icon means a facility within a radius of up to 500 m (parking near the attraction, a restaurant by the trail, a rental nearby).
List of icons and their meaning:
🐾 Animals
pets allowed — pets ARE allowed on the premises.
- no icon — either pets are NOT allowed, or the owner did not provide this information. Always ask before arriving.
pets prohibited — when the owner has explicitly marked the ban (less common than no icon).
pet shower — a spot to wash your dog after a walk.
💰 Payments — an important exclusion
cash only — excludes card payment. A bank transfer may be possible (for advance bookings). It is mutually exclusive with "card payment" (one of the two).
card payment — a payment card is accepted AS WELL AS cash (card is added to cash, not instead of it).
⚕️ Health and help
- doctor / clinic ¹ ², first-aid kit, AED (defibrillator).
🌐 Connectivity — measured at the POI location (WiFi and signal are something you test while standing on site, without a radius ¹ ² — the signal applies where you are)
- free WiFi, paid WiFi.
- 5G / 4G LTE / 3G coverage — in the X network your phone works (you can call, transmit data).
- weak signal — the phone has a signal, but it is unstable / data is slow. Better not to rely on it for online navigation.
🚗 Vehicle facilities / motorhome service
parking ¹ ² — additional parking spaces outside the pitch (for a second car, guests, day visitors).
- EV charging ¹ ², motorhome wash ¹ ².
- repair point / mechanic ¹, tuning, paint shop, weighbridge (station-only).
- vacuum cleaner ¹ ², tyre air ¹ ², AdBlue ¹ ².
- petrol ¹, diesel ¹, LPG ¹, LPG bottle exchange ¹.
💧 Water on site / on the pitch
drinking water — a general drinking water tap on site for filling bottles / canisters (a shared tap, a fountain).
drinking water connection — a socket on the pitch for connecting a hose. Lets you fill the motorhome's tank without going to the shared point.
grey water — a discharge point for used water (from a shower, sink) — most often a shared drain point on site.
grey water connection — a socket on the pitch for connecting a hose draining grey water directly (the motorhome stands over the socket).
black water (chemical cassette) — a discharge point for the contents of the motorhome's chemical cassette.
⚡ Electricity on the pitch
230V power (Schuko, 2 pins) — a household socket on the pitch. Most often in simpler facilities or when the pitch has a station with regular sockets.
CEE power (blue plug, 3 pins) — the standard motorhome socket (IEC 60309, the "camping plug"). Most motorhomes have a factory-fitted cable with this plug.
🚿 Sanitary facilities
toilet (WC) ¹ ² — a full toilet with a permanent sewage outflow.
toi-toi ¹ ² — a portable sanitary cabin (a chemical toilet, popularly called by the brand "Toi Toi"). Important: if only toi-toi is marked, and "toilet (WC)" is NOT marked, it means that there is NO toilet with a permanent outflow on site — only portable cabins. If both are marked — you have a choice (e.g. the campsite has a WC + on the edges there are also toi-toi units for higher traffic).
children's toilet ¹ ² — a lower bowl, adapted for children.
bidet ¹ ² — an additional sanitary fixture for intimate hygiene (less common at campsites).
- free shower ¹ ², paid shower ¹ ².
- laundry ¹ ², drying room ¹ ².
- baby room / changing table (campsite-only).
🍽️ Food and shopping
- restaurant ¹ ², shop ¹ ², beach bar ¹ ²
🏊 Pools and water zones
- indoor pool (adults) ¹ ²
- indoor pool (children) ¹ ², deep outdoor pool ¹ ², outdoor pool (children) ¹ ²
- paddling pool ¹ ², water slides ¹ ², sauna ¹ ², spa ¹ ², sun loungers ¹ ²
🏖️ Beach and waterbody — for Natura Viva these are elements on the spot (without the ¹ footnote), because a wild spot is most often right by the lake / on the beach)
- lake ✓ (natura viva: on the spot), ², jetty ✓ (natura viva: on the spot), ²
- sandy / stony / gravel / mixed / grassy beach — ✓ natura viva (on the spot), ²
- nudist beach — ✓ natura viva (on the spot), ²
🧑🤝🧑 Entertainment
- playground ¹ ², meadow ¹ ², fire pit ¹ ², BBQ ¹ ²
- animation (adults/children) ² — campsite and attraction
- chess ¹ ², billiards ¹ ², other activities ¹ ²
⚽ Sports fields
- football ¹ ², basketball ¹ ², volleyball ¹ ², tennis ¹ ²
- badminton ¹ ², padel ¹ ², golf ¹ ²
🚴 Rentals and outdoor
- bicycle rental ¹ ², cycling routes ¹ ², mountain biking ¹ ²
- sports equipment rental ¹ ², car rental ¹ ²
🏄 Water sports
- kayak rental ¹ ², sailing ¹ ², fishing ¹ ²
- diving ¹ ², surfing ¹ ², kitesurfing ¹ ², surf school ¹ ²
⛰️ Mountain and winter sports
- mountain hikes ¹ ², climbing ¹ ²
- skiing ¹ ², cross-country skiing ¹ ², ski transport ¹ ²
¹ For Natura Viva an icon means a facility within a radius of up to 200 m (e.g. a public toilet / chemical toilet nearby, a grocery shop in the vicinity).
² For a tourist attraction an icon means a facility within a radius of up to 500 m (e.g. parking near the attraction, a restaurant by the trail, a rental in the area). Tourist attractions have a more lenient radius because viewpoints / trails rarely have everything on site.
In the map view, there is a (funnel) icon in the top-right corner. Clicking it opens a panel with feature icons — you can choose e.g. "naturist-friendly", "pets allowed", "motorhome wash". Selecting any feature activates the filter — only POIs that meet all selected requirements remain on the map.
Pulsing icon — when the filter is active, the icon pulses with a heartbeat rhythm (similar to the "liked" icon on a POI), so it's clear that the map view isn't showing everything.
2×2 indicator next to each feature — next to each filter icon you can see a small 2×2 grid of colored squares. They show which POI types this feature makes sense for (i.e. which types it actually filters). Mapping:
- top-left square — campsite (blue)
- top-right square — service station (orange)
- bottom-left square — tourist attraction (pink)
- bottom-right square — Natura Viva (green)
Square state:
- Filled with color — the feature exists in the schema of this POI type and the layer is currently visible on the map. The filter actually filters places of this type.
- Faded (slightly visible) — the feature does not exist in the schema of this POI type, OR the layer is currently hidden. The filter has no effect on this type.
Example: you select "naturist-friendly" (a typically campsite feature). The indicator shows campsite filled in blue, and the other 3 squares faded — because Natura Viva, attractions and stations don't have this feature in their schema. That's why Natura Viva does NOT disappear when this filter is enabled (and this is intentional — it only filters where it makes sense).
Example 2: you select "motorhome wash" — a feature common to all 4 types. All 4 squares are filled with color, the filter filters out POIs of every type that don't have this flag.
Cluster circles (zoom 0–5) — at low zoom levels, the map shows circles with the number of POIs in a given 1°×1° grid cell. The numbers take the filter into account — the backend counts only POIs meeting the current criteria. So with the filter on, the circles are smaller or disappear.
Entry from a link (URL with POI) — when you click a link leading to a specific place (e.g. from a partner's site, a newsletter email, a share link), the filter is cleared, so that you can definitely see this place regardless of your last set preferences. After closing the POI card you can return to your filter normally (they're remembered in the browser — in a cookie and localStorage — separately for campsite and service station).
Yes, every POI (campsite, station, attraction, "wild", sponsored) has a set of four metrics visible to the owner / co-owner / Administrator in the management panel:
- Link entries — entries directly to the card's address (share link, search result, newsletter link). They measure card exposure from outside the Service.
- Openings from the map — clicks on the POI marker on the map inside the Service. They measure interest among our users.
- Conversion actions — clicks on real contact actions: e-mail, phone, navigation, web link. The most important metric — shows how many people moved from viewing to interaction.
- Likes — how many people added the POI to favorites.
The statistics are indicative and counted with simple protection against inflation — repeat visits from the same device in a short time don't bump the counter. The measurement is anonymous: we don't do global cross-device identity tracking — we are not Google. We show counters split by year, so you see both the all-time total and the current year; historical data is never overwritten. The values are enough to gauge a place's popularity and compare interactions over time.
You can turn on the fuel prices layer with the ⛽ icon. Prices are added by users who photograph the price board in the app.
Zoomed in (zoom ≥ 9) you see black prices from specific places; zoomed out (zoom ≤ 6) we show a blue country average over the capital, so the map does not get cluttered.
In the layer settings you pick a fuel (ON/95/98/LPG/EV) and a currency. The price in your currency is approximate (marked "~"); when the measurement currency and yours are the same, the price is exact.
Write! We consider every idea. The fastest way to reach us is the contact form.
If you also notice a bug or something doesn't work — briefly describe: which browser you use, where in the service the problem appeared, what you tried to do. The more details the faster we'll fix it.
A sponsored place is a paid promotional service for entities wishing to highlight their location on our map — e.g. a service company, restaurant, shop, camper service, hotel, clinic, commercial attraction. The marker of such a place is always visible on the map (regardless of type filters) and can have its own graphic instead of the standard pin.
First write to us via the contact form — we'll arrange the details, the validity period and the billing method. After payment we add the entry and give you access to the statistics.
Scope of the "sponsored place" entry:
- Map marker icon — your own graphic. Best as SVG (perfect scaling to 48×48 px); we also accept PNG, JPG, WebP (recommended 1024×1024 px, transparency preserved). Without an uploaded icon we show a default marker.
- Logo on the place card — separate from the marker icon; shown on the POI card and as the preview image when sharing the link on social media. PNG, JPG or SVG, recommended 1200×1200 px.
- Place description — up to 5,000 characters of plain text (paragraphs via Enter).
- Contact details — e-mail address, website, phone. We tag outgoing links automatically (UTM parameters), so you can analyze the traffic we send you in your Google Analytics or Matomo; optionally we add your campaign tag.
- Gallery — up to 10 photos and up to 5 YouTube videos.
- Amenities ("At this place" section) — ability to mark attributes: parking, WC, chemical toilet, shower, restaurant, shop, EV charging, Wi-Fi, 5G, pool, beach, playground, bike rental, skiing, climbing, clinic and many more — to choose from the same list as tourist attractions.
- Validity period — we set the promotion end date. After it expires, the marker disappears from the public map. 30 days before expiry we send an automatic reminder.
- Statistics for the Customer — you have insight into the same metrics as any POI (link entries, map opens, conversion actions, likes), with protection against inflated counts, so the data is reliable. Details in the POI statistics question.
What a sponsored place does NOT have: it's not subject to rating or commenting — the POI card contains no review section or stars (this is about equal treatment of commercial partners, not about moderating community opinions on commercial services).
Payment: in our e-shop, vouchers are available in three promotion-period variants: 1 month, 6 months and a year. You can buy right away or — if you need an individual scope / atypical period — first contact us, we'll select a package matching your goals.
